The Council of National Directors of the Polish American Congress adopted a resolution requiring Prime Minister Donald Tusk to take immediate action aimed at establishing an international investigation into the Smolensk crash.

Until recently, the Polish American Congress was reluctant to get directly or indirectly involved in the matter, wishing to remain impartial. However in May, the Council of National Directors of the Polish American Congress adopted a resolution requiring Prime Minister Donald Tusk to take immediate action aimed at establishing an international investigation into the Smolensk crash.

In its resolution, the Congress emphasised that facts and findings revealed to date prove that both the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee and the Polish Jerzy Miller’s Committee governmental reports fail to explain the real cause of the tragedy.

The resolution has been adopted after the Council conducted hearings with the participation of Prof. Wieslaw Binienda, Prof. Kazimierz Nowaczyk, and Prof. Grzegorz Szuladzinski and Antoni Macierewicz, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for the Investigation of the Polish President plane crash set to investigate the causes of the 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash.

“During the Conference we submitted results and findings of independent experts” – explained Antoni Macierewicz.

The resolution coincides with information that the Polish government refused US support and assistance in the investigation, as repeated last week by Ben Rhodes – from the US Security Board – during his a press conference.
